Over 140 people celebrated CIL's 40th birthday on June 26th, 2019 at Capewell Lofts in Hartford, CT. It was an eventful night: we took a look at the past 40 years and announced the Community Matters campaign, thanked David McKinley for his dedicated service to CIL, enjoyed food and beverage thanks to sponsor TD Bank, and danced to groovin' music by the Hartford Hot Several Brass Band.
Keynote speaker Jay Williams, President of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, made us laugh as he recounted how his plans to walk to work were thwarted because Capewell Lofts was fully leased, and then surprised us with a pledge of $10,000 to the Community Matters Campaign.
We were also joined by special guests Marty Legault, CIL's first employee and President/CEO, and Quincy Abbot, an author and national advocated for those with developmental disabilities.
