[Tools & Resources]
Abundant Housing Massachusetts (AHMA), a non-profit organization, stands up for abundant housing for all in communities across Massachusetts. They drive policy at the state and local level by identifying pro-housing changemakers, building the power of local organizers, and connecting a statewide network. They work to create, sustain, and enhance a housing market that lets people move when they want, where they want, not when they have to; communities with racially and economically diverse residents; development patterns that facilitate low/no-carbon lifestyles; and education on effective organizing tools to address the history of racial segregation. We are proud to be part of AHMA’s coalition and have our own team member, Alyssa Lajoie, who volunteers on the Communications Committee.
This month, AHMA celebrates their first anniversary, with major accomplishments including, hiring their first Executive Director and Statewide Organizers, bringing on nearly 300 new members, and working with affiliate member groups in a dozen cities and towns throughout Massachusetts. They rallied support for the new MBTA multifamily zoning law and HB1448, critical pro-housing legislation in the state house and have had events to inspire and teach activists how to be effective pro-housing advocates, including presenting in collaboration with CIL to the Arc of Massachusetts (you can watch a recording of that presentation here, relevant content starts at 4:40!)
We’d like to wish AHMA a Happy First Anniversary and applaud them for all their hard work to making Massachusetts for Everyone! Are you interested in joining the anniversary celebration? Learn more about AHMA here.
